Engagement Party
This is a party which celebrates a future marriage.
Stag Party
This party is the last chance for the ‘groom-to-be’ to let his hair down and have an ‘alleged’ final fling with his mates. Parties such as these as renowned for being outrageous and raucous and as such they can easily get out of hand. The ‘best man’ will normally be in charge of organising it and because of the nature of it, he will plan it well in advance of the wedding (if he is sensible).
Hen Party
This is the female equivalent to the stag party and don’t think for one minute it is all calm and sedate!!
The Wedding
If the stag and hen nights didn’t end in complete disaster and all parties (forgive the pun) are still in communication, then the big day will eventually arrive.
After the ceremony of your choice, the wedding party will take place. Words of advice – if you book a disco make sure they will play the type of music that you want. If you’re a heavy-metal couple tying the knot, a DJ whose entire collection comprises the “Greatest Hits of AC/DC” is fine; a couple who are in their sixties having been raised on Glen Miller might end up in the local hospital having their ears syringed!!
This party is also a good excuse to acquire gifts and items for the marital home that could not normally be afforded.
Wedding Anniversaries
These are parties which are held each year to celebrate the anniversary of the wedding.
Divorce Party
If after all these great parties, things have gone drastically wrong, this is the party which celebrates the return to bachelorhood. It is sometimes followed by a new relationship whereupon the next party will be the Engagement Party!! |
