In certain respects, putting on a party for children can be the hardest of the parties to try and make a success of, because of the very nature of them.
The ‘Planning’ section above was a generalisation, there are different factors to be taken into account when planning for a children’s party.
* Firstly, it is important to establish the age-range of the kids involved. If your aim is to high, they may not comprehend what’s going on; too low and they’ll think the party’s childish and become disinterested. Either way, you’re on a loser!!
* If it’s summertime then Bouncy Castles are a good choice. You’ll be surprised how the young and the old will have-a-go on these (the latter especially if alcohol is available!!).
* Unless you’re the sort of host that is used to keeping kids amused for hours – book some entertainment. Magicians and clowns are very popular. It is best to get recommendations from friends because a miserable clown or clumsy magician will be booed off stage and you’ll be left with a lot of unhappy kids on your hands!!
* Set a theme. Kids especially like to dress up and it doesn’t need to be expensive. If you’re worried that some of them will ‘out-perform’ others, you could provide the material/items yourself and let them ‘dress-up’ when they arrive at the party. This in itself will more than likely last the duration of the party – and so your job is done!!
* If you’re planning to go-it-alone, then always have more activities and games available than is needed. If a game fails to captivate the kids for some reason, you’ll need a backup plan.
